Connect Daymatter to your AI assistant
Daymatter runs an MCP server. Connect Claude Code or another MCP client that lets you set a header, and the assistant works with your plan, with only the access you give it.
Turn on MCP access
Sign in to Daymatter, open Settings → Security, and turn on MCP access. Confirm with your password or the account you sign in with. Access stays off until you turn it on.
Create a credential
In the same place, create a credential. Give it a label you will recognise, such as the name of the assistant, then choose an access preset and when the credential expires: after 90 days, or after 365 days at most.
What each access preset allows
- Read-only
- The assistant can read your tasks, routines, agenda, areas, tags, and shopping list, and changes nothing.
- Read and write
- It can also add, change, and complete items, and move tasks to tomorrow, but none of the actions that need full access.
- Full access
- Only full access lets it decide on tasks left over from earlier days, archive tasks and areas, delete subtasks, routines, and tags, clear completed subtasks from a routine, clear bought items from the shopping list, and replace all of an item's tags in one step.
Daymatter shows the credential once, right after you create it. Copy it and keep it somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
Add the server to your assistant
Add the server address as a remote MCP server that uses Streamable HTTP, and send the credential as a bearer token in the Authorization header. Daymatter does not offer OAuth sign-in, so choose a client that lets you set this header.
For Claude Code, run this command in a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http daymatter https://daymatter.app/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_CREDENTIAL"Clients that you set up with a JSON file usually define the server like this. The file and the field names differ between clients, so check your client's documentation.
{ "mcpServers": { "daymatter": { "url": "https://daymatter.app/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_CREDENTIAL" } } } }Ask
Try “What is on my plan for today?” or “Move the invoice to tomorrow.” The assistant works with your tasks, routines, agenda, areas, tags, and shopping list.
You stay in control
- You can revoke a credential in Settings → Security at any time, and it stops working at once.
- Turning MCP access off stops every credential until you turn it on again. The credentials stay on the list, so you can still revoke them.
- You can have up to 20 active credentials. Expired ones stay on the list for 30 days.
- Requests are rate limited, and every tool call is recorded in an audit log, without the content of your plan.
